What is a lifestyle newborn session?
Lifestyle portraits are a more candid style of photography, where the photographer comes to your home and photographs you in various places throughout the house. The focus will be on your day to day life, in the space you have poured so much love into creating together. Typically, for in home newborn photos, you will stay in the nursery, master bedroom, or living room areas; though the light of the room will ultimately be the deciding factor for most photographers.
What are the benefits of a newborn photoshoot at home?
The first few weeks and months with a newborn can be such a blur. Having to pack up and leave your house can be a daunting task & possible obstacle standing between you and documenting your (quickly growing) newborn. That’s when lifestyle photography can save the day! You can relax knowing that you don’t have to plan for any travel or packing time and you can still have beautiful photos with your baby, in the comfort of your home.
Another benefit of having newborn photos taken at home is receiving a gallery full of your baby and family in your natural environment. Your photographer will focus on the interaction of your everyday life as a family (snuggled up on your couch or bed, rocking with your baby in the nursery, etc.). They will also focus on your newborn in the comfort of their new space, the beautiful nursery you invested so many hours of thought and effort into creating.
Lastly, older siblings and pets can join in the portraits easily before going on about their day! No need to worry about packing up snacks or treats or loading up a car to haul everyone somewhere.
Tips for Preparing for Your Newborn Photos At Home
When you choose our team at Twinkle Portraits as your dedicated Denver newborn photographers, we will walk you through every step of the process. We’ll begin with a consultation to discuss your home space and vision, then explain what the photography experience will entail.
While you don’t need to deep clean the house before your session, we do suggest decluttering the areas you plan to photograph in. During your consultation, we will determine exactly what & where to focus your energies on the day before your session. We’ll handle any final touches during the session, so you can rest easily knowing everything is taken care of!
Additional suggestions to consider when preparing for your in home lifestyle newborn session:
- schedule hair and makeup the day of your session or going to a blow out bar
- treat yourself to a manicure and/or pedicure the week of your session
- set aside any special items you want included in the photos (baby’s lovey, a childhood blanket, etc.)
- have a special small treat ready for older siblings, for after the session
